Out with the Old, In with the New!
Upgrading electrical outlets is a straightforward but important home improvement project. It’s often done to replace outdated, damaged, or ungrounded outlets with new, safer ones.
The process involves turning off the power at the circuit breaker, carefully removing the old outlet and its faceplate, and then wiring the new outlet exactly as the old one was connected. This typically means connecting the black (hot) wire to the brass screw, the white (neutral) wire to the silver screw, and the bare copper or green (ground) wire to the green screw.
Once the new outlet is securely installed, the power can be restored and the outlet tested. This simple swap can significantly improve electrical safety and bring a home’s wiring up to modern standards. Let our Good Neighbors Electric team do this for you – with no shocking prices!
