Your electrical panel quietly does one of the most important jobs in your home, and when it starts to struggle it usually tells you. Frequent breaker trips, flickering lights when large appliances start, and a panel that feels warm or hums are all worth taking seriously.
Capacity is the other big factor. If your panel is full, has no room for new breakers, or is still a 60A or 100A service, adding an EV charger, heat pump, or ADU may not be possible without an upgrade to 200A or 400A.
Some panels should be replaced regardless of symptoms. Certain recalled brands from past decades are known fire risks, and no amount of repair makes them safe. If you are unsure, an inspection gives you a clear answer before you invest in new appliances or additions.
