A Level 2 home charger turns your overnight hours into a full battery, but it draws a heavy, continuous load that needs its own dedicated 240V circuit. Before anything is installed, the most important question is whether your electrical service has room for it.
That is why we always start with a load calculation. Many homes can add a charger on the existing service, while others benefit from a service upgrade to 200A first. Guessing here is how people end up with nuisance trips or an unsafe install.
Location matters too. The shorter the run from your panel to the charger, the lower the cost, so a spot on the garage wall near both your panel and your parking space is usually ideal. Decide between a hardwired unit and a NEMA 14-50 outlet, and make sure the whole job is permitted and inspected.
